In Deep is a new beginning, an adventure that has pushed the composer head long into music that he'd previously kept at arms length. By helping school pupils define and access their own ideas about music, Jon Keliehor found himself forced to look outside of his own expectations, and therefore define a new approach to his music.

2007 was a year of deep change personal change, a time to redefine many aspects in his life. Here he has cast aside barriers that had previously protected a well guarded approach to music. IN DEEP must be a recognition that deep-down-within there is a melody maker who just needs a little room to breath, and because of this a set of remarkable new music-works has arrived.

“It may be superfluous to say, but for me this is something I never anticipated doing. In Deep is like a forbidden fruit that I promised I'd never eat. The gate is open. I've entered an area where I’d previously not found opportunities to express myself, and I'm very excited."

"In past works I have concentrated on bringing drums and percussion to the forefront of my music. It has been somewhat of a quest. While rhythm is the obvious association with drums and percussion, behind that drums are essentially tonal instruments, and I have been focused quite strongly on melodic and harmonic possibilities in these instruments. However for the first time in a long while I have shifted away from my usual concerns. This music is about as big of a change as one can make. I've taken down the NO ADMITTANCE signs that have restricted my use of guitars and pianos, and have made a bridge leading toward modern music styles."
